What’s even more fun than riding a tandem off-road?

If you haven’t attended an off-road tandem rally yet, you should really consider giving it a try.  Seriously – the only thing better than riding tandem mountain bikes on great trails is riding tandem mountain bikes on great trails with other tandem teams!

We spent this past weekend riding with 24 other teams on the Allegripis Trail system at Raystown Lake, PA.  As is always the case at tandem rallies, we were able to meet several new teams, and had the opportunity to ride with many of them at various times over the weekend. The event, Eastern Tandem Offroad Rally, organized by Brenda and Larry Isherwood, was well-planned and smoothly run, and the weather was pretty close to perfect as well.

There were teams of widely differing abilities, both in experience and fitness, and teams came from several states to attend. The trail system (and local rail-trails) provided something for everyone. We brought our fleet of demo/rental tandems, and several folks took advantage of the opportunity to check out some of the new setups we’ve been building lately.  We also provided rental tandems to some teams for all or part of the weekend, so those who either don’t have a tandem mountain bike yet,  weren’t able to bring theirs to the event, or just wanted to try the newest setups were able to ride. For some teams who don’t yet own a tandem mountain bike, it was a great way to get acquainted with tandeming off-road.

Check out our Facebook shop page on our home page, where we list upcoming events, and the Tandem Mountain Bikes Facebook group page: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Tandemmountainbikes/, where events are also listed, along with pictures and details about past and future events.

If you want to try out tandeming off-road, a rally is a great way to experience the fun! While the quality of the tandems and the trails certainly can add to (or subtract from) the experience, meeting and riding with other teams adds so much more to the experience!
